A Blog about Books

I love to read, always have. I sometimes call myself a "bookaholic". I even have a "bookie". That would be Paul of Paul's Book Place in Sapulpa Oklahoma; he feeds my addiction. I read an average 2-3 books per week (not including all the children's books I read aloud). This may not sound like a lot unless you realize I have 3 children who I homeschool, and I help run a small business. But I do read a lot. Sometimes I forget that I read something and I go to buy it again and Paul has to remind me that I have bought this book before. Sometimes, if it is a really good book, I will read it again. Books by Elswyth Thane and Jean Plaidy I have read several times.
I have a lot of thoughts and, dare I say, even opinions about what I read. I looked at the "501 must read books" list and decided that list wasn't for me. Not that I haven't read many of the books on that list already but many of the ones I haven't read I really have no desire to read. My motto and greatest despair is that there are "too many books, not enough time".
So what kind of books do I tend to steer towards? Well first and foremost there is the Bible; the greatest piece of literature ever written; but more importantly the very Word of God given to us to live by. I read my Bible daily and try to live by the principles contained therein. Other than the Bible I tend to read mostly Historical Fiction. I also like some non-fiction history, political non-fiction of a conservative nature and non-fiction help books (i.e. books about homeschooling, organizing, running a business, and etc). Sometimes (ok, rarely) I pick up and read something from another genre. So if any of this sounds interesting to you stay tuned for my book reports. I will try to blog about each book I read from here on out. I realize I have set myself a hard task but this project sounds fun and therefore has some chance of success. I am setting my starting date as January, 2010 but that leaves an untold multitude of books I have read in my past that won't get the blessing of my review. Maybe sometime when I have time and the inspiration hits me I may include books I read in the past. On the other hand if there is a title you are particularly interested in feel free to ask me if I have read it. I would love to tell you my thoughts on any book I have read.
